Welcome to Plumstead Deanery

cropped-Plumnstead-River-Heights.jpgOur deanery consists of 10 parishes and 12 churches, each with their own distinct character and identity. Between them they represent the full breadth of the Church of England in their traditions. So if you are new to the area and looking for a place to worship, there is sure to be a place for you here. And you can be certain of a warm welcome wherever you are.

cropped-Signpost.jpgSituated right at the north-eastern corner of the Diocese of Southwark, Plumstead is a deanery of contrasts. At our southern end we have the beautiful ancient woodland of Bostall Heath and Oxleas Wood. To the north we have the old mud flats and salt marshes of the Thames Estuary. And in the midst of this we have a vibrant and diverse urban community that has grown hugely in recent decades with the development of Thamesmead and, more recently, the Royal Arsenal. Change continues apace to this day with the imminent coming of Crossrail and forthcoming regeneration in Thamesmead. Within all of this, our churches provide a continuing Christian presence that can be dated back to earliest times.
